Fuel Cost Per Kilometer Calculator

Calculate your vehicle’s fuel cost per kilometer driven using local fuel price per liter and liters per 100km (L/100km). Easily estimate 100 km driving expenses and annual fuel budgets.

Metric Cost Per km Formula Tool

Formula: Cost Per km = (L/100km ÷ 100) × Price Per Liter

$/ liter
L/100km
km/year
Your Fuel Cost Per Kilometer
$0.124/ km

Exactly $12.37 for every 100 kilometers driven.

Per 500 km Drive
$61.87
Annual Total (20,000 km)
$2,475.00
Cost Per Kilometer Formula
Cost Per km = (L/100km ÷ 100) × Fuel Price Per Liter

Worked Example:

With fuel priced at $1.65 per liter and a car consuming 7.5 L/100km:

(7.5 ÷ 100) × $1.65 = 0.075 × $1.65 = $0.124 per kilometer ($12.38 per 100 km)

Over 20,000 kilometers per year, total fuel spend is 20,000 × $0.12375 = $2,475.00.

Common Metric Fuel Calculation Errors
  • Multiplying by L/100km directly: Multiplying $1.65 × 7.5 yields $12.38, which is the cost for 100 kilometers, not 1 kilometer. You must divide by 100 to get cost per kilometer ($0.124/km).
  • Calculating from km/L: If you have km/L instead of L/100km, the formula is Price Per Liter ÷ km/L. For example, $1.65 ÷ 13.33 km/L = $0.124/km.
